Easy Gluten-Free Lemon Cake – My Lemon Flaxseed Cake Recipe

vernette
Happy Thanksgiving!!! I’m sharing my “Healthy” Lemon Cake recipe once again… Easy Lemon Cake by vernette carbon I love cake, especially the “wicked,” double dark chocolate cake. However, I only splurge on that a couple times throughout the year. I am drooling just thinking about chocolate cake. I don’t know why in the world I am talking about chocolate when the title of this post is “Easy Lemon Cake – My Lemon Flaxseed Cake Recipe.” I think I fell and bumped my head and ended up in chocolate heaven. Anyway, check out my recipe below. I created the recipe over a year ago and had my son write down the recipe as I went along. It was one of those times when I said to myself, “Let me try a little something new and see how it would turn out.”  Well,  it turned out really really good.  I ate more than I should, but didn’t feel guilty as I would if I ate chocolate cake. This was what I called a healthy cake…if there is such a thing…ha ha. Easy Lemon Cake – Ingredients: 6 Tablespoon flaxseed meal (available at most grocery stores in the organic health section or you can...

Can I Operate a Home-Based Cake Business In Colorado If I Own a Cat?

vernette
3 Tiered Diaper Cake NOTE: The following is a post from 2010 that I am sharing once again with you. A question asked and was answered regarding starting a cake business from home. To be frank…I would not want to eat from a bakery that have animals walking around. The same should apply at home. No difference. Question:  I ultimately want to open my own bake shop, but while transitioning from part-time work to this dream, I have entertained the idea of baking goods in my home kitchen and selling them. I do, however, have a cat. Will I be able to get the proper license and health certification? Answer:  Most states do not approve a animals in a home if you are going to bake there like the state of Colorado.  Some states will allow you to set up shop in another building on the same lot, but not in the building that you live in. So for instance, you can get a license or permission from your state first and then turn your garage into a bake shop.  You are not in the same space, but you are still actually working from home. You would need to get...

Dairy Products Cause Cancer? Why Women In China Do Not Get Breast Cancer…

vernette
Dairy products have played a major role in my diet growing up. Now that I’m an adult, we use very little dairy in our home. We recently switched from pasteurized cow milk to almond milk. I said “Pasteurized” because we would actually drink unpasteurized milk straight from the cow whenever we can, which is not often. The pasteurized milk in the grocery stores are stripped of nutrients and are really no good with all of the other additives.  We drank fresh cow milk when I was a little girl growing up in the Caribbean.  So after reading the following article  by professor Jane Plant “WHY WOMEN IN CHINA DO NOT GET BREAST CANCER” I was struck. I’m just hoping that it really does not apply to fresh milk that I was taught all of my life was good for you. So it’s not that we’re done with drinking cow milk 100%.. just the regular milk in the stores, including some so-called organic milk and foods. Oh by the way, we would drink fresh unpasteurized goat milk also from the farm straight from the goat.  I don’t like the taste, but I drink it when we get it, which is not...

3 Reasons WordPress Bloggers should Remove The Date From Posts

vernette
Remove The Date From Your WordPress Blog Posts Why would anyone want to remove the date from their WordPress blog posts anyway? Here are three reasons why: 1.  Removing the date from blog posts can make your blog look more like a website rather than a journal which is dated at the top of each post. 2.  Maybe you have older articles in your archive. Removing the date would make your posts look fresh to readers coming from the search engines, etc. So in other words, if you have an article that is six months old, people coming from the search engines, etc can read your post without thinking it’s old and outdated.  You can remove the date from single posts or all post on your blog. 3. Some blog owners think that removing the date from blog posts can increase the number of comments and linkbacks for the older content.  You be the judge. Removing the date from blog posts can work for some WordPress blog owners and might not work for others.  I prefer to post without the dates.  Some blog owners argue that the timestamp is necessary.I want my blogs to look more like a website rather...

Jobs I Can Do From Home – 10 Jobs That Let You Work From Home

vernette
Jobs I Can Do From Home… How would you like to work from home? No hustling out the door 10 minutes late, no fighting your road rage or battling for the last seat on train, no fast food lunch and no noisy co-workers. Sounds like heaven doesn’t it? More than ever, workers are attracted to the 30-second commute, thanks to social and economic trends. Technologies necessary for setting up a home office are widely available, relatively inexpensive and getting easier for people to use. In addition, more workers are seeking flexible schedules to care for children and aging parents. The number of Americans whose employer allows them to work remotely at least one day per month increased 63 percent, from 7.6 million in 2004 to 12.4 million in 2006, according to a 2007 report issued by WorldatWork. In total, the sum of teleworkers (both employed and self-employed) working remotely at least one day per month has risen 10 percent from 26.1 million in 2005 to 28.7 million in 2006. Many people associate working from home with starting a home-based business and becoming an entrepreneur, but more and more employers are offering this option to workers in order to attract and...

Article Writing Tips From SpongeBob SquarePants

vernette
Article Writing… By Nicole Dean Wisdom can be found in the most unexpected places. Today, wisdom bubbled up from a pineapple under the sea. I suddenly realized that everything you’d want to know about writing articles for your website can be taught by SpongeBob SquarePants and his friends. When you write for your newsletter, blog, or website, which character are you most like? Mr. Krabs: This crustacean is focused on one thing and one thing only, making more and more and more money. Only a cartoon could actually have dollar signs drawn in his eyes. He thinks of no one, only how he can benefit. Are your articles focused on you or on the reader? Are you providing information or do you have blinders on, thinking only about how you can make money from the article you are writing? If your article reads like an ad or is self-serving or full of affiliate links, you might write like Mr. Krabs. Plankton: The smallest creature in the sea is also the sneakiest. He’ll do anything and hurt anyone to steal someoneelse’s work (the Krabby Pattie secret formula). Write your own material. Don’t be Plankton. Don’t copy and paste someone else’s work,...

How Do I Get People To Read My Blog?

vernette
Here are two great questions from blog readers that I will answer below: Question #1: How do I get people to read my blog? Answer: In order to get people to read your blog, you must make it sticky. Provide really great content that people in your niche want to read. Make it exciting. Add some great videos pertaining to the subject that you’re covering. Add images. Get people to register to your blog to alert them of any new post on the blog. These are just a few of the things that you can do to get people to visit more often and also to make it sticky. I don’t like too much clutter on blogs…you can’t even find the info that you were looking for in the first place. You find so many banners, adsense, adds, pop ups, etc. Sooo annoying. If you are currating content like I do sometimes, make sure to gather the best content from the best sources, make reference to them, and add your own unique twist to the post. Be yourself. Don’t try to copy someone elses, “Blog tone.” Put your own personality into your blog and people would come back for more....

Your Questions About [website Traffic]

vernette
Questions Asked About Website Traffic Lisa asks… What is a good price to pay for search engine optimization? Just hired a web developed to create my website and want to know what a fair price to pay for SEO is. Also, he is creating a CMS for it, since it needs to be updated ver frequuently. I heard CMS’s are harder to properly optimize… is this true? vernette answers: Really depends on the amount of work they are willing to do. Typically $500-1000 is standard. CMS’ aren’t necessarily harder to optimize, just more time-consuming from all of the new content that you will be publishing. Sandra asks… What’s a good price per month for Search Engine Optimization of my website? I’m considering on doing it continually for about 6 months to a year. vernette answers: Impossible to say without knowing more about your website and looking at the competitiveness of the sector you are in. For example to SEO a casino site into the top ten would cost in the region of $100k+ in total but the owner’s return on investment could be very high. At the other end of the spectrum if someone wants their site to be number...
