Welcome to the blog of e-businessmoms.com.
Although there are many ways of getting traffic to your website, there are a few old-fashioned methods that stand out and always work for me.
I’m going to share with you one of those tried and true methods, and that is called forum marketing. This still remains one of the best ways to drive highly targeted traffic to your website. There are many businesses earning six figures annually that have been built on participating in forums.
Before joining a forum there are several things you need to know in order to make it a profitable and enjoyable experience.
The first thing you should do is make sure that the forum is active. In order to find out whether the forum is active or not, go to Google and search for “your keyword,” +forum. So let’s say you’re advertising a tatoo removal product. You would go to Google and type in the words, “Tattoo removal forums,” “Tattoo Forums,” etc.
Once a list of forums show up on the search engine, go to several forums and see how many members that each forum has, when was the last post, and how many different topics are listed on that forum.
If the forum is active, then you would see that the last post would be either the current date or the day before. Anything prior to that, I usually don’t bother. I like to deal with forums with a large number of members and ones where there are daily posts.
Despite the fact that you can earn a six-figure income with your niche websites using forums, you must follow certain rules in order to be successful. you must read the forum’s rules and regulations before you start making any posts. Most forums don’t allow you to directly advertise and they all have their own rules. That’s why it’s extremely important that you read those rules before posting on any forum.
Spamming a forum is an absolute no, no. Don’t send people directly to your affiliate programs or flat out encourage people to click on your signature link. Please don’t put your link directly in your post. Keep it in the signature.
If the administrator of the forum sees that you’re spamming the forum by posting your links all over the place you will be banned from that forum. Another rule I follow is, once you sign up with a forum make sure you read the posts and contribute at least 5-10 thorough, very informative post. Then I would take a break, rinse and repeat every other day. Remember, don’t just post comments in one day and disappear.
You can also get banned from a forum for “yelling” at other forum participants, or not respecting other people’s opinions. You must learn how to conduct yourself in a forum by not “firing off at the mouth.” What I mean by that is you must be careful of not being offensive or even using offensive language towards another participant. Be as straightforward as you can without being abusive or rude, even if you disagree on a comment made.
So How Do I Really Make Money From Forums?
You make money from forums by using your signature link effectively. When you post in a forum you must make sure that your signature, which is a little advertisement about your business has a benefit attached to it.
Since this is usually the only place on a forum where you’re allowed to advertise your business, affiliate products, and services, you must make sure that you show the readers, “what’s in it for them.” Without that benefit for the readers, you are just wasting valuable space in your signature line because you would hardly get any clicks to your offer, website, or blog.
Here’s a forum signature example that would get a high click through rate:
“Discover The Amazing Diet Secrets Of A Desperate Housewife” – Free Video Report!
It would actually look like this: “Discover The Amazing Diet Secrets Of A Desperate Housewife” – Free Video Report!
When some forum participants create a signature link, they just add their name with a link to their website. For example: Vernette Carbon
The above would actually look like this: Vernette Carbon. Again, it’s best to post a benefit instead of just posting your name with a link to your website, blog, or affiliate offer.
One of my favorite questions and answers suggestion board/ forums is www.answers.yahoo.com. This is a place where people go to ask questions on any topic.
For instance, I put in a search on answers.yahoo.com for Xbox 360 repair “open-ended questions” and there were many open-ended questions that were begging for answers. So I went ahead and answered at least 10 questions regarding xbox 360 repair without adding any links to my resource box. Then on the 11th question that I answered, I made sure my masked affiliate link was posted in the resource box.
Although $58 is not a lot of money, I made $58 that day on that one post. So let’s consider, for instance, if you have at least five post from five different niche products and five different forums earning at least $58 a day, that’s $290 daily and at least $8,000 monthly. This is how quickly the money can add up. And the good thing about this is, these leads to your websites are highly targeted to what you’re offering. You can’t beat that.
So go ahead and join as many forums as you can, forums that pertain to your niche products. Besides making a ton load of cash, you can also make some new friends while you’re at it.

By Tiffany Dow
Today we have a guest post from Ghostwriting Guru and Content Marketing extraordinaire Tiffany Dow. She provides a concrete example of how you can write more content for your sites and for your article marketing faster and easier.
Many affiliates start out on a shoestring budget. You want to keep costs down using free traffic tactics, but in order to get a decent traffic stream going, you need a massive amount of articles at your disposal.
That’s where most affiliates cringe. Writing doesn’t come naturally for some people, so they not only struggle with a lack of talent, but they look at the clock and realize it took them an hour to write 50 words.
With this snail’s pace, you’ll never get anywhere, so you consider giving up.
Not so fast! I have a simple formula that can help you create 5 paragraphs – about 1 full page worth of content, so give it a try and see if it makes your article marketing efforts a bit easier.
There are three main concepts your affiliate article should convey to the reader for the best conversions: personalization, authority or expertise, and honesty in your recommendation.
You’re going to break it up into those 3 paragraphs – and lengthen this basic formula with an introduction and a conclusion for a total of 5 paragraphs, which should work out to about 400+ words – perfect for an Ezine Articles submission.
So let’s break it down so I can show you what goes into each paragraph and I’m going to show you an example, too. I’ve been doing a case study in the Bearded Dragon pet niche for a few weeks and I don’t own one, so that’ll be perfect to explain this from the viewpoint of an affiliate who wants to promote something he or she isn’t familiar with:
Introduction: 2-5 sentences (depending on length) introducing the topic. Remember the five Ws – Who, What, When, Where, Why (and/or How). Answer those questions. Here’s an example:
Parents of children (WHO) who have been begging for a pet lizard and are considering a Bearded Dragon will want to waste no time (WHEN) investing in a guide to proper Bearded Dragon care (WHAT) so that they don’t waste money on a pet that will die prematurely and cause lots of heartache for their child (WHY). You can download an affordable guide straight to your computer from a reputable resource online (WHERE)but you need to know who you can trust for the right kind of pet care information.
Paragraph for Personalization: 2-5 sentences letting them know your story. With free traffic sources, it’s often a web 2.0 socialization situation. That means peer to peer trust has to be built. Moms recommending products to other moms, for example. So let’s see an example – remember I don’t have a Bearded Dragon myself, but I don’t like lying in my affiliate reviews, either, so I’m going to be honest and establish a connection to my readers:
I’m the mother of a 10-year-old boy who has always wanted to pet. We already have cats, but as you know their mindset is pretty independent. A dog requires so much work – and I knew that would land on my shoulders if we got one. So we’ve been contemplating whether or not a pet lizard would be perfect for my son – and we’ve narrowed it down to Bearded Dragons and Geckos. I didn’t know anything about Bearded Dragons, so I went online to gather information and see how easy they are to care for.
Paragraph for Authority or Expertise – this doesn’t have to be your own expertise. You can talk about the product creator’s authority, too – like this:
After reading many websites, I discovered there are many things that go wrong for an inexperienced Bearded Dragon owner. I found a site by Bearded Dragon expert Chris Johnson, which explained some of the things that could result in a fatality of our new family pet. Chris wrote a guide called the Bearded Dragon Secret Manual, which covers issues like feeding, bathing, habitat set up and more. I was happy to find out that this expert guide is written for people like me – who have never owned a Beardie and don’t want to have a misstep. I love the fact that it’s a downloadable PDF file because then I can access it on my computer anytime we have a question – and there’s no fear of misplacing a physical book (which often happens in our hectic household).
Paragraph for Honesty – your honest feelings, even bad points about the product, are appreciated and come across as more realistic to your reader, so don’t make it always a glowing review. In fact, I’ve often sold more products as an affiliate when I have a slightly negative review than when my review takes a feel-good “Kumbaya” approach. Here’s how I convey the honesty of my review:
To be honest, I wasn’t too crazy about spending $27 on a book about a pet I don’t have yet. But Chris convinced me in his website that it’s important to know these things before you buy a Bearded Dragon, so I chalked it up to preventative medicine for our future family member. And I’m a frugal mom – I don’t like shelling out money on information I feel I could probably find for free online. The problem is, it’s all scattered across the web – and I don’t want to take advice from “just anyone” – I wanted an expert to teach us. Plus, once I found out about the bonus items, I couldn’t say no – it had a handy feeding guide and a guide for the most common health woes and the checklists included were invaluable. I printed them out and stuck them on the fridge so my son could refer to them when he gets his new Beardie, which we’re considering getting for his birthday.
Conclusion – Wrap it up here. Reiterate why it’s important for them to get this guide sooner rather than later. Here’s how I do it:
If you already own a Bearded Dragon, or plan to get one soon, I highly suggest you educate yourself about this pet thoroughly. There are so many seemingly small details that could cause severe problems for your lizard if you don’t know them. If you’re looking for an expert to trust, I can give the Bearded Dragon Secret Manual my seal of approval. It’s made my family feel confident that our new pet will live a long, healthy (and happy) life in our home.
That article example if 565 words and I would hyperlink the guide’s name twice in the article. You can shorten it by quite a bit. The best affiliate reviews are created when you put your personal slant on it.
Give this formula a try on at least 5 different articles and see if it becomes easier for you to write a good affiliate review. For added speed, try a tool like Dragon Naturally Speaking. I use it, and it sped up my article content creation by four times the speed I was previously writing at. You simply put your headset on, speak out loud, and it types it onto the computer for you. It’s an invaluable tool for affiliates relying on heavy content creation.

As a thank you for being my dedicated blog readers I would like to share with you a free ebook, “7 Totally Free Ways To Get More Traffic.” So go ahead and click on the link below to download your free ebook.
Have you ever wondered how some people manage to create a video from their kitchen table, upload it to Youtube, and vuala… over 1,000,000 views in a short period of time? Was it a fluke? Is there some secret formula for getting so many views on a Youtube video?
The question is, what really makes a Youtube video go viral? Some videos become so popular that the author of the video ends up with a movie deal, a record deal, etc. That doesn’t happen too often though. However, Youtube video marketing can get you lots of viewers, which can drive a boatload of traffic to your site when done the right way.
Google has a love affair with Youtube and Youtube videos tend to show up in the search engine quickly. Once you have your video uploaded on Youtube, you must have a link back to your website on the top right side, next to your video (below the subscribe button). You also need to have your website link showing at the beginning and end of the video.
Is There A Secret Formula?
Is there really some type of secret formula that can get you thousands or even millions of hits over a short period of time? Well I’ve questioned that many times and it baffled me how some videos, like the “Charlie Bit My Finger–Again,” video, received so many views.
Now take a look at the “Charlie Bit My Finger–Again,” video below. Again, this video received over 164 million views. What do you think? Is it that funny? This was one of those videos that went viral and no one seems to really know why it’s the most viewed video on Youtube ever.
I love this video, but seriously, I’ve seen hundreds of videos much funnier. Anyway, that’s just my opinion. Take a look:
Well I hope you enjoyed the video, especially if you never saw it before. Now what is my point here? Well, if you want to get Youtube viewers attention, your video needs to fit in either one of these three following categories… funy, shocking, or of a sexual nature. When I say sexual, I mean for example, a thumbnail of a woman in a bikini (see example video thumbnail a couple videos below).
I’m not saying that videos in other categories do not receive hundreds of thousands of views or even millions, but it’s just that these three categories top the list. If you really look around Youtube you will see that the videos with the highest views pretty much fit into those categories. Below is an example of a shocking video.
The author of that video earned thousands of dollars from that video. It received over 400,000 views.
The author of the video linked the video to a company offering car insurance. He was an affiliate of that product and received a commission whenever anyone filled out there name on a form to get a car insurance quote. So he didn’t have to sell anything. Awesome, isn’t it? This is how it works.
Now let’s get back to the “Charlie” video. Personally, I think that the video below is funnier than the Charlie video. It had me in stitches. This video is in fourth place for the top 10 most viewed Youtube videos of all time. It’s hilarious. Again, this is only my opinion. See below.
So now let me get to the point here. There is no specific formula that you can follow to a tee and get over a million views on Youtube. However, there are several things you can do to increase your chances.
As I mentioned previously, the video needs to fit in the comedy, shock, or sex categories. Second of all, you must have a “killer” keyword targeted, headline, one that would make people want to click on the video to view it.
Do some keyword research before hand and then search that keyword via youtube and see how many veiws the top video has. This way you know what you are working with. What some people actually do is steal the tags and description from the top viewed videos in order to increase their chances of getting many views like their competition.
Another thing people do is create misleading headlines. I actually get annoyed when people put up misleading headlines to get lots of views like the one below. The video below is cute, but it has absolutely nothing to do with the headline. I hate being misled. Take a look at the video below to see exactly what I’m talking about.
Another trick to getting lots of views is to set up your thumbnail to peak people’s interest. The thumbnail is the image from the video that people see whenever your video is displayed in the Youtube listings.
The thumbnail is actually the part of the video that most people pay attention to. There’s one problem though. Youtube actually chooses your thumbnail. You have a choice of three thumbnails that Youtube creates for you to choose from.
I’ve submitted videos, and the thumbnails that Youtube chose that were completely unrelated to the part of the videos that I wanted to emphasize. I’ve always wondered why Youtube never gives the video author the option to chose what part of the video should be the thumbnail. Well, there is actually a way to get the thumbnail of your choice. However, some math is involved (multiplication). So if you got an “F” in math, you would have a problem here. He he…
It’s Time To Calculate
Here’s what I do now. In order to calculate your three thumbnails, you must take the amount of minutes of your video and multiply them by three different variables (.25, .50, .75).
For example, if you have a one-minute video (60 seconds), your three thumbnails would fall at 15 seconds (60x.25), 30 seconds (60x.50), and 45 seconds (60x.75). Take a look at the thumbnail below and look at the entire video to see how the video author was able to cleverly set up such a sexy thumbnail from such a “dark” video.
One Last Tip
I have one more tip that I want to share with you. I stumbled upon this technique and I implemented it. I will share exactly what I did below. First let me describe a little about the video that I used to test this tip.
I created a Youtube Channel and a blog for my sister and just threw a video together. It was one of those experimental videos that I created, uploaded to Youtube and forgot all about it. My sister did too.
My sister never bothered with that blog that I created for her, or the Youtube channel. As a matter of fact the channel is completely dead… no activity for months. I just checked Youtube and saw that the channel has four subscribers… suprised. It also seemed like the video was embedded in multiple blogs because the page rank of the blog went from a PR 0 to a PR 4.
Boring As Hell
What surprised me was that my video didn’t fit into the comedy, shock, or sex category. As a matter of fact it was a tutorial…informative, but boring as hell. However, it got the message across and some extra traffic came along with that too. It wasn’t a whole lot of traffic, but I’m showing you how a neglected video received over 1,500 views. The video tutorial is entitled, “How To Have Soft, Plump Lips.”
Want to know what I did? Well here’s what I did. I looked for a video (The Perfect Red Lips Tutorial) with over 100,000 views. The video is in a similar category of my (lip plumping) video.
I then post a video response to “The perfect red lips tutorial,” video. My video response was once in the top 4 video lineup under the video with the Red Lip Tutorial video for probably no more than a couple days.
This was because, as time went on, other people posted video responses and pushed my video further down the “Totem pole.” The views also went down the drain as more people added video responses. Here’s the video that I’m talking about:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maQhftPjJHc&feature=related
The whole concept here is to get people to watch your video after they’ve finished watching the original video (The Perfect Red Lip Tutorial for example). Your main goal should be to get your video response showing up in the top four spots along with the other video responses. You want to make sure that your video is on display right before your viewers eyes.
Don’t Get Lost In The Shuffle
Here is what you can do as more and more people post video responses, and your video gets lost in the shuffle. You can then add that same video as a response to another high traffic video in the same niche market. Don’t do like I did and upload a video and forget about it. Market the living daylights out of that video.
So go ahead… create your funny, shocking, or sexy video, and send a boatload of highly targeted, free traffic to your blog or website. Make sure that you are careful with sexy videos because Youtube will shut you down if that video is too “Raw.” Make sure you read the policies, terms, and services in order to abide by Youtube’s guideline.
Directories will always be around, the future for directories will change as the internet changes, they will need to adapt and additional services. The third important factor in directory submission is making sure you use the correct title, keywords, and descriptions in the right category. Once your site is included in a directory the listing is permanent and you will receive traffic everyday.
Despite customer resistance, eventually the message will get through that submission is not necessary. Search engines use directories to check the value of websites, remember directories are human edited and these directories add check for the search engines, one of the most popular directories that most search engines check with is dmoz. Submitting to directories is overlooked because it is so time consuming and it has to be done manually to be done right, but it is a great search engine optimization strategy.
Each listing carries a brief summary of the content contained within. Links in directories are free, paid, or free but need a reciprocal link. A directory is a compilation of links that are organized in a way to make it easy to search on. Sometimes, you search for something in the directory and you don’t find it, not because it is not there but because the directory search script just doesn’t cut it.
If you decide to pay for a directory listing make sure the directory has a good page rank and has a proven traffic record, this way you know that the money you spent is well worth it. Many directories offer free directory submissions. Paid and free are the most common form of directory model. A one way links or a link exchange is considered a free link. Search engines like to see a site updated regularly, and maintaining the directory will assure that all the links are still functional and that all the URLs still exist.
Many sites are rejected due to inappropriate descriptions. The description is the most difficult item to define correctly. One way to get help for an accurate description is to ask friends to view your website or ask people from forums to view your site. A description is not an advertisement and should never contain superlatives or excessive marketing hype. When writing your description you are not writing it to sell your product you need to write it showing the benefit of your product, no hard sell in the description.
When using directory submissions you will see an increase in links and traffic to your site. These are great methods of driving traffic to your site. The main thing you want for your website is targeted traffic and traffic that converts into sales.
When using a directory submission service make sure you find a service that will continually add your sites links to directories even after the initial submission. By paying one price for the initial submission and never having to pay again for additional submissions to directories is what you want.
The reasons for this are simple, submitting to directories is long monotonous process, it is easier to pay a flat rate and have someone else do it for you. When choosing the service make sure you can enter more than one title, description, categories and keywords. The reason for this is that you want to rotate the title and description among the directories. Make sure you receive a submission report and snapshots of the submissions. If you don’t receive emails from the directory owners this is a good indication that your site is not really being submitted.
Manual Directory Submission is one of the best ways to promote your website and achieving good visibility in search engines.
