Okay…so why in the world do I have a picture to the left of a beautiful woman when this post has nothing to do with beautiful women? Well, I just couldn’t find the right picture to post here and decided, since I’m writing about an ugly secret, then maybe…just maybe I can get away with posting something beautiful. Did I get away with it?

By the way, Blog comment posting is one of the many methods marketers use to get more traffic and back links to their blog. It’s time-consuming, but it does work wonders for increasing traffic to your blog. Despite that fact, many marketers are going about blog commenting in the wrong way.

Many blogs do not offer, “Do Follow” commenting. On the other hand, there are blogs like e-Businessmoms that offers “Do Follow” links on comments. What this means is that you receive benefit from leaving a comment with a link back to your site.

“Do Follow” blog comment posting…What really makes this special is that it will benefit your Search Engine Ranking Position (SERP). I don’t have a problem with this as long as the comments are genuine and it’s pretty much a way for me to say, “Thank you,” for visiting my blog.

I really hate when people spam my blog…leaving comments that quickly reveals that they did not read the article that they commented on. If you’re going to post comments, make sure that they are genuine or they will deleted.

When you place a sufficient number of blog comment – postings on “No Follow,” blogs in order to gain back links to your website or blog, you are pretty much wasting your time.

These links are ignored by the search engines. So make sure you post on “Do Follow,” blogs. Again, don’t spam any blog whatsoever. Read the posts and be genuine in whatever you say in the comment box.

Now, blog comment posting on blogs just for the sake of gaining back links to your blog or website is so damn time-consuming that blog owners don’t want to do it. Some people actually use software… what I consider, spam bots. Please don’t do this.

Now that’s not all. Here’s the ugly secret. To save the trouble of making hundreds of comments on various “Do Follow” blogs, and avoid getting caught in spam filters, there are companies that will make relevant comments on blog posts using your chosen anchor text.

They charge anywhere from $19 for 100 comments and even up to $199 for 1000 comments left on your behalf. Would I consider this BS? Maybe, maybe not. However, it’s not something I would do.

How Leaving Comments On Blogs Can Drive Traffic to Yours

You know what, this can really become a problem for blog owners like me, because it makes the job of spotting spammy comments almost impossible. I do have the awful task of weeding through comments trying to decide whose comments are spam or not. Some of these comments are not detected as spam by the blog’s spam blocker.

So let’s take this into consideration, would you consider this spam… comments that were not actually written by the stated author, but was paid for? Does the fact that the comments were paid for make it legitimate? What do you think?

Video: How *Not* To Link To Your Site

September 11, 2009 By: vernette Category: How To - Website Traffic

One of the best

You’ve got to check out this video from Michelle McPhearson. Great info that can help you rank better in the search engines once you learn how not to link to your website and blogs.

I am also sharing my word of caution regarding the  30-Minute Backlink product that is linked to the above-mentioned video because as far as I understand, although the concept does work, software directory owners/real software developers don’t approve of it.  The 30 Minute Backlink is really a tutorial of how to make a browser tool bar.  You name the toolbar as your preferred keyword, and then submit this to various freeware sites.  A few software directory owners are catching on and deleting the submission.  However, Michelle McPhearson is an awesome marketer and shares some really awesome info.

That’s just my two-cents and I wanted to just share this video with you on how not to link to your site.  Enjoy!
