Article Writing Tips From SpongeBob SquarePants

Article Writing…

By Nicole Dean

article writingWisdom can be found in the most unexpected places. Today, wisdom bubbled up from a pineapple under the sea. I suddenly realized that everything you’d want to know about writing articles for your website can be taught by SpongeBob SquarePants and his friends.

When you write for your newsletter, blog, or website, which character are you most like?

Mr. Krabs: This crustacean is focused on one thing and one thing only, making more and more and more money. Only a cartoon could actually have dollar signs drawn in his eyes. He thinks of no one, only how he can benefit. Are your articles focused on you or on the reader? Are you providing information or do you have blinders on, thinking only about how you can make money from the article you are writing? If your article reads like an ad or is self-serving or full of affiliate links, you might write like Mr. Krabs.

article writingPlankton: The smallest creature in the sea is also the sneakiest. He’ll do anything and hurt anyone to steal someoneelse’s work (the Krabby Pattie secret formula). Write your own material. Don’t be Plankton. Don’t copy and paste someone else’s work, edit it, and try to pass it off as your own. You will be caught, and it just isn’t worth it. Take the same amount of effort and work on your own thoughts and ideas. Plankton never gets away with his schemes, either. He’s on Plan “Z” and is still pathetically failing at his attempts to steal the secret formula.

I thought I should just insert some more fun into this article writing tips article.  So check out the Spongebob videos below. Enjoy!

Patrick: SpongeBob’s best friend, the starfish, has a good heart, but isn’t the brightest creature in the sea. Do your articles make you sound like an expert? Are you providing valuable content or just pushing out sloppy articles as fast as you can? Always double check for typos and grammatical errors. If you’re challenged by spelling and grammar, hire a Virtual Assistant or Copywriter to proofread and submit your article for you. Or slow down, set your article aside for a article writingday and then reread it before you click the “submit” button.

Squidward: Squidward is B-O-R-I-N-G. When writing articles, are you a Squidward? Do you just get the words down on paper or are you finding a fun twist to entertain your audience and keep them coming back for more? Take time to make your articles stand out from the thousands of other dull articles out there by including personal stories or just having fun while writing. For instance, this article could be entitled “How to Write a Good Article”, but would it stand out from the hundreds of other articles about article writing? Probably not.

SpongeBob: This little guy always tries to do the right thing, and is a hard worker. He may not always end up getting the results he hoped for, but he bounces back and tackles his work with a renewed vigor. SpongeBob works very hard, he’s a good friend, he always thinks of others, and tries to have fun no matter what he is faced with. Hardworking, friendly SpongeBob is the guy to be when writing articles.

article writingAlthough this is a silly lesson in article writing, I hope you’ll remember the important messages our underwater friends have taught us.

1. Write articles to help others, not with dollar signs in your eyes.

2. Write your own material. Don’t copy others.

3. Proofread your articles carefully, and provide valuable information.

4. Be entertaining. Not boring.

5. Be a SpongeBob! Hard work and persistence pay off.

Before you know it, you’ll develop a following for having informative and entertaining articles and you’ll be King or Queen of the sea.

How To Find A Market Niche…30 Awesome Places to Find Your Next Niche Market
by Jay

Finding ideas for your next niche market is quite easy. There are lots of resources online to help you discover a market that’s profitable but isn’t overdone by the tens of thousands of marketers online.

Unfortunately, you’re probably shaking your head wondering why it’s so easy when you’re having trouble finding a good market to start making money online.

Well, let me show you some stuff I had bookmarked and you’ll see what I’m talking about. I’ve grouped them into categories so you may be able to find similar places that I haven’t mentioned.

Here’s where I like to dig:

Shopping Sites:
Shopping sites are great places to start digging for your next niche. There are usually ten of thousands of products available that are solutions to people’s problems or a match for their interest. Start at sites like:

1. Amazon New Releases

Amazon is one of the largest and most popular shopping websites online today and it has been for a very long time. Amazon’s new releases show you the most popular products just released in all their categories. These are the products that people are spending money on right now.

Finding niche ideas by looking amongst popular products on the Amazon marketplace can be a great start especially if you decide to promote that particular product. A great indication that you’re on the right track is the countless amount of courses being released where you can profit from promoting Amazon products as an affiliate.

Remember the idea here is not to find a product to promote but to get niche ideas. You’ll have to do research to reverse engineer the particular niche represented by the product.

2. Barnes & Noble Top 10 Everything

Barnes & Noble just like Amazon above, started online selling books. They sold books before through catalogs but when the internet became the next marketplace, they made the transition. They still sell books mainly, along with cds and dvds and other products.

The Top 10 Everything section of the site lists the top 10 books in the dozens of categories on the site. I like to stick to the Non-Fiction categories where you can find stuff in different industries such as travel and hobbies. You can further dig a deeper into their sub-niches and then taking a look at the books will give you further ideas.

Here’s an example: I went to the Crafts & Hobbies section and clicked on Candlemaking. The #1 book was “Candlemaking the Natural Way: 31 Projects made with Soy, Palm & Beeswax”. I could easily start a niche website for “people who are interested in making soy candles” just from this one idea.

3. Shopping.com Top Searches

The Shopping.com Consumer Demand Index (CDI) makes it easy for you to put your finger on the pulse of consumer demand. With millions of shopping searches conducted each week, the CDI reveals emerging trends and hidden gems while highlighting the hottest products.

These top searches are updated on a bi-weekly basis so you can really dig around and find niche ideas or physical products you could promote. Since you can see what’s hot, all you’ll need to do is reverse engineer the niche market or set up a site to promote that type of product and connect with affiliate programs like Amazon or a merchant on Commission Junction or Linkshare.com.

4. Pricerunner

Pricerunner is a price comparison website that has lots of shopping categories for physical products. You can get ideas from their top 50 products list as well as their popular searches which are prominently featured on their homepage.

Another helpful feature is when you visit each category, sitting at the bottom of the page are the top searches in that category. You can then click on More Popular searches to get lots more searches displayed.

There are also links to forum discussions in each category. Forums as you know can be used for getting additional ideas and to do valuable niche market research.

5. Thisnext Activity Map

Here’s an interesting one. ThisNext is a shopping engine that has this activity map where you can see in real time what people are looking for in the many categories on the site. It’s a map of the world and when an item is discovered in the ThisNext site, a bubble pops up over the location of the visitor and the item they searched for.

Pretty cool if you ask me. At the bottom of the map, you’ll find a stripe with categories you can use to discover some cool items. I found some pretty cool items going through these categories like this cordless 1930′s retro style phone. Maybe people collect real retro phones or would like to give their space a retro look (more research needed).
